I met the “unable to unmute problem” recently on my legendary (owned since 2003) Audigy 2 NX USB, it kept mute RED LED on constantly.
I am using Windows 11 Insider Preview version.
No matter pressing the physical button or unmuting it in Windows, the mute RED LED never came off, until I decided to reinstall the driver.
I download and install the Windows 7 driver from Creative website, despite Creative web site declares the product is no longer supported, but, WoW, after a system reboot, it gets back to work. Seems that it will continue its legend story for some more time…

Thank you – I was stumped – your post was very helpful. I’m using it to listen to YouTube while running Reaper with ASIO on a Lexicon Alpha. Before I hooked up the Audigy as soon as I launched Reaper I lost sound from any other Windows app.
